Skateboard Vert basketball gets a third crack at beating No. 7 Duke when the two teams square off in the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament quarterfinals on Friday. Tipoff is set for noon inside Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The Blue Devils shellacked the Orange in Central New York 97-72 two weeks ago after SU dropped the first matchup in Durham, N.C., 79-59 on Jan. 22.
SU (16-16, 10-11 ACC) is coming off arguably its sharpest performance of the season, having blown out Florida State 96-57 in its first postseason contest on Friday. Jim Boeheim’s bunch, however, will be without its top scorer in the biggest game of the year. Buddy Boeheim threw a punch in the first half of the FSU game, connecting to the stomach of Wyatt Wilkes as he turned to head upcourt after some jockeying for position under the basket. The ACC announced a one-game suspension for Boeheim on Friday evening.
The younger Boeheim, who was not made available after the game, didn’t get called for a foul during the action. And it did not appear that a review that occurred shortly after the incident pertained to his situation. Buddy Boeheim released a statement after the game, implying that he lashed out in frustration after bumping with Wilkes, though he did not say whether he was intentionally trying to make contact.

The Eagles have gone 9-8 against Big Sky opponents. Eastern Washington has a 4-3 record in games decided by less than 4 points.
The teams meet for the second time in conference play this season. The Eagles won 75-62 in the last matchup on Jan. 21. Rylan Bergersen led the Eagles with 15 points, and Zach Chappell led the Hornets with 17 points.
TOP PERFORMERS: Komagum is averaging 6.6 points and 6.9 rebounds for the Hornets. Fowler is averaging 19.3 points over the last 10 games for Sacramento State.
